Solution contaminated with sulfuric acid
« on: May 02, 2016, 09:58:55 PM »
So I was gassing an organic in a solution of ethyl acetate with Sulfuric acid dripped over Hydrochloric acid when the gassing setup fell over and the solution was sucked back into the container containing the HCL Acid.

Knowing I had a mixture of both in each container I have emptied the HCL acid into the beaker containing the Ether/organic solution.

I'm wondering what I now have in the beaker, has the aqueous HCL Acid been converted to sulfuric acid in the reaction? Can I still get the HCL salt of my organic out of the solution?

I have evaporated off the Ether so I assume I'm left with the organic dissolved in an acid.
