Catalytic Converters
« on: May 10, 2016, 04:01:13 PM »
Which of the following CANNOT be removed from the exhaust gases of a catalytic converter?
a. carbon monoxide
b. carbon dioxide
c. hydrocarbons
d. nitrogen dioxide

please say how you understand the question, the reason for your answer, and why the other choices are wrong.. thank you

i can say that harmful gases enter the converter and are converted to less harmful ones.

What do you know about how does the catalytic converter work?

For example: what it does to CO?

CO goes in and is converted to CO2... so you cant remove CO from the exhaust gasses as it would be in the form of CO2 after the redox reactions

If the CO is replaced by CO2, and is no longer present, it is surely removed from the exhaust gases.
