Hi everyone, I need to write out and compare both the old and new methods of synthesizing DMP.
The old method refers to that defined by Boeckman and Mullins.
The new method refers to that defined by Ireland and Liu.

What I have come up with so far (with my limited knowledge of organic chemistry) is as follows:

Old Method:
Step 1:        2IC6 H4 COOH + 2KBrO3 --> 2C7H5 IO4 + 2KBr + O2
Step 2:        C7 H5IO4 + (CH3CO)2 O + CH3COOH --> C13H13 IO8

New Method:
Step 1:        IC6H4COOH + 2KHSO5 --> C7H5IO4 + 2KHSO4
Step 2:        C7H5IO4 + (CH3CO)2O --> C13H13IO8

I'm not sure if the components of the equations above are correct, they are what I have come up with by reading articles online.
It would be great if anyone or everyone can help check my equations and confirm if they are accurate.

*modification to post: I'm sorry, I cant figure out how to get the subscript formatting right. If you are not sure what formula I typed, do pm me. Thank you!

*mod edit correct formatting (an extra [ sub ] had crept in)
