Question in electrochemistry
« on: June 25, 2016, 07:09:31 AM »
A redox reaction occurs when mixing Sb2O5 with S2O32- but doest occure when mixing Sb2O5 with Hg. A reaction doenst occur when mixing SnCl62- with S2O22-.

Grade the reduction potentials of the following half reactions:

2H2SO3 + 2H+ + 4e-  :rarrow: S2O32- + 3H2O
SnCl62- + 2e-  :rarrow: Sn2+ + 6Cl-
1/2 Hg22+ +e-  :rarrow: Hg
Sb2O5 + 6H+ + 4e-  :rarrow: 2Sb(OH)2+ + H2O

Thanks!
