I have a N=N ligand which get reduced and hydrogenated (NH-NH) by Zn dust in presence of methanol. But Zn has a bad effect, sometimes oxidized form of Zn(Zn2+) replaces the metal complex.so can I use sodium naphthalenide quantitatively as reducing agent,is it reacts with methanol ?

Sodium naphthalenide is not stable in protic solvents like alcohols. You need Ether or better Terahydrofurane.
