« on: July 09, 2016, 06:01:33 AM »
Can Levulinic acid be upgraded to 5-aminolevulinic acid? Another words, if I'm starting with Levulinic acid, how can I end up with 5-aminolevulinic acid as a product? Thanks

Yes it can. Do you know any methods how aminogroup can be introduced into molecule?

There are also biosynthetic pathways, you can find more about it here: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Aminolevulinic_acid#Biosynthesis

You can also purchase it from a chemical supplier, if your experiments require it.

Its not typical for a student or professional chemist to call a chemical reaction an "upgrade."  Can you tell us more about your application, so we can gauge the help you need?
Hey, I'm not judging.  I just like to shoot straight.  I'm a man of science.
