Chemical Reactions
« on: August 19, 2016, 10:57:58 AM »
Hi, I have been working on trying to solve the following question for hours. Can someone please help me with this?
For each of the following reactions, write the missing product(s) and then balance the resulting equation. Identify each reaction by type.

a. Br2 + KI →

b. NaClO3 → Δ

c. C7H14 + O2 →

d. CuCl2 + Na2S →

Hi there,

Welcome to the forum. It's one of the forum rules that we like you to have a go at the question first and then we help you based on that. If you've got no idea where to start, let's look at how the question would work for different reactants:

H2 + O2  :rarrow: ?

Whatever comes out of the reaction has to be composed of what went into it, so we're looking for product(s) containing H and O. Water is H2O and that's what we would expect in this reaction. So...

H2 + O2  :rarrow: H2O

Then to balance the equation, we need to make sure there are the same number of atoms of each element on either side, so we add some coefficients like this:

2H2 + O2  :rarrow: 2H2O

See what you can come up with for the reactants in your questions.
