We are working on a project of synthesizing a chemical sensor membrane that can sense the presence of metal ions in the solution or water medium. We made first part of the membrane with PVC that is capable of sensing the Copper ions in acidic medium changing color form yellow to red. We made different ionophore for copper. Now we want to use dopamine as ionophore in the same membrane but dopamine membrane gets dissolved in the copper solution sample that we made previously. I think it is due to basic nature of dopamine. Any idea how we can use dopamine in same medium or alter pH of our sample solution? Any new ideas are also welcomed.

Thanks
