I am not sure if this is the right forum to ask this question. So feel free to move it if needed and let me know.

I was wondering how toxic (if any) is the semi-liquid substance inside LCD displays. My smartphone's screen cracked after a screen-down fall on the sidewalk. The display still works, but the touchscreen has gone crazy and there are a couple of areas on the screen where you can see the liquid move when you press it. It looks like there's no leak but I am not 100% sure. However, I am afraid the screen may leak if I remove it in order to replace it with a new one. How dangerous is a leak from an LCD screen? As far as I know the screen is an LCD IPS.
