I have been working on my Review guide for my Mid Term coming up next week. It is not graded, but I am still doing it to study. Regardless, here is the question it is asking me and I would love it if someone knew the answer or could help me out.

Knowing that physiological saline is 0.9% sodium chloride (NaCl), explain in detail what will happen to red blood cells if they are placed in each of the following solutions?
a.   2% NaCl
b.   Distilled water
c.   2% sucrose

This looks like a standard osmosis question, so if the course wasn't clear to you, you could check Wiki for instance.

What is behind such questions:
- What substance goes through the cell membrane?
- What does the movement depend on?
Once you've cleared that, you should be able to answer.
