Organic Chemistry reaction software help
« on: December 28, 2016, 03:14:10 PM »
Hi, just wanted to know is there a software out there which is aimed at undergraduate organic chemistry student which predicts the products of let’s just say reactions such as:

- Nucleophilic additions
- Reaction of Aldehydes and Ketones with Alcohols
- Acetal Formation
- Thioacetals in the Formation of C-C Bonds

Just named a few types above, there’s of course a lot more, but is there anything out there in terms of software which one can utilize to predict the products of such reactions? Thank You

A similar question has come up often on these forums.  Here's one of the response threads:  http://www.chemicalforums.com/index.php?topic=65458.msg235920#msg235920
Hey, I'm not judging.  I just like to shoot straight.  I'm a man of science.

Yes, there are.
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_computer-assisted_organic_synthesis_software
And many other that are not listed therein. But:
Do not trust them, due to serious reasons that are clearly described by “fledarmus” in an answer to a similar question in this forum, as “Arkcon” underlines. http://www.chemicalforums.com/index.php?topic=65458.msg235920#msg235920
