Buffer concentration

Hi all,

I have a 100 mL solution at pH 6.0. During my reaction the pH increases. To keep it constant, I checked the pH over time and I kept adding acid (0.5 M sulfuric acid) to adjust the pH back to 6.0 (unfortunately I don't have an automatic titrator).

At the end of the reaction, I found that I added in total 1.25 mL of 0.5 M sulfuric acid.

I want to use a MES buffer instead of manually adjusting the pH. My problem is what concentration of MES do I have to use?

Any help would be appreciated. Thank you.

Is this a homework problem?  Buffers resist changes in pH, but they do not stop changes entirely.  A good place to start is to calculate how many moles of hydronium ions did you add.
