a question about acid alpha value of acid
« on: April 11, 2017, 09:55:45 AM »
Write down the equations in terms of the acid
dissociation constants and [H+] for the highest
alpha value for each of the following :
(i) Tartrate
(ii) Acetate
(iii) Phosphate
(iv) Nitrilo acetic acid
(v) EDTA

I found a question like the above. I couldn't understand the question. What are they asking for and what do they mean by alpha value??

Can anyone help please....

That means for higher alpha value dissociation constant also will be higher. Is it true?
