Degree of substitution

Hi all

I have derived my chitosan onto nitrochitosan. But I have some problems on calculating degree of calculation of degree of substitution of nitro group.

I have searched on the journal and google, but until now, nothing help me solve this problems.

Anybody can help?

If I understand your question correctly, you are interested in the degree of substitution of the carbon atom bearing the nitro group.  This is determined the same way as any other functional group, by counting the number of carbon atoms attached to the carbon atom in question.
