HSAB principle related problem

Between AgI2- and AgI3-, AgI2- is more stable. What is the reason?
Can it be explained by HSAB pinciple? Ag+ is weak and so as I2-, so they makes a stable complex, but what about I3- ? Is it softer or hard?
Please help with explanation

What are general rules for comparing hardness of acids/bases?

For bases: higher electronegativity, smaller size, i.e smaller polarisibility means a hard base and opposite is soft.
