I dont know. Thats why I find it pretty crappy that you weren't given a molecular formula, or at least a mass spec to interpret. Who knows if there are some hetero atom shenanigans in here somewhere?

we had to hand in the analysis yesterday, and when i asked if we could please get a molar mass and a bit of extra time and his answer simply was:
on both questions: "no"
nothing more than that
now we still have an oral exam of the course, and the prof asks questions about these spectra
we're still hoping to find the real structure by then :/

so we had the oral examination today
this was the structure we handed in:

we knew it wasnt right, but at least it was something

so here was the real structure:

it doesnt seem right for the aromatic hydrogens in the HNMR, but apparently that is s#*$ that can happen

Lol, I punched this into scifinder and cannot find a record of it being ever made in the literature. So unless your prof custom made this molecule for class, I still find this all pretty weird.

well the ether of this is in fact on scifinder
i really dont know
but there was another group that didnt find their product on scifinder either, but they found it on sigma
i couldnt even find it there
