alkoxycarbonylation
« on: July 12, 2017, 07:24:03 PM »
I need help in defining the exact meaning of "alkoxycarbonylation"
as the word carbonylation refers to introduction of carbonyl
so when I say alkoxycarbonylation, that should mean the introduction of alkoxy carbony

I know it is simple as carbonylation refers to the introduction of carbonyl, so does this apply to the same meaning

Yes! Somehow, the same.
“Alkoxycarbonylation” means the introduction of an ester group to a (usually) hydrocarbon chain.
RH → RCO2R’
As you suppose, the nomenclature derives from alkoxy- (R’O-) + carbonyl- (-CO-) = -CO2R’
PS: This is a spectroscopy forum and not the neighboring, pure organic chemistry one.
