I find the topic very intriguing, but I am very confused as to what carbon nanotubes are. Are they a man made fiber? How are they formed? It may be asking a lot, but I would appreciate all the information I can amass about the topic. EVERY piece of information helps.

Thanks

You might need to refine your question for help here -- It may be too broad a question

When you say "all the information" keep in mind that google scholar returns over a million articles that mention the topic.

Just quickly, carbon nanotubes are cylindrical shaped monolayers of pure carbon. They can be man made via a variety of methods. They naturally occur in low % in events like fires or lightning strikes, but we generally obtain them by heating or putting electrical discharge through a purified carbon source such as methane. We can also use a couple forms of chemical vapor deposition which is somewhat more complicated.

The Wikipedia page, as it always is on such a big topic, is very helpful. Probably more helpful than us.
