Removal of HBr
« on: December 04, 2017, 04:19:25 AM »
Im removing Bn and Cbz from my molecule by stirring it in HBr (48% in water). So how to I remove the solvent ? My end produt is a primary amine so I will end up with the hydrobromide salt. Even if I form the freebase the molecule will be water soluble. The molecule is also fragile in high temp so I do not want to use a rotavap.

Can I freeze dry of the water to get my crude product ?

Do you think its insoluble in organic solvents? Perhaps you could add a miscible organic solvent like THF to crash it out.

Freeze drying is also an option, but then you're stuck with all the various salts. If you neutralize the acid, then freeze dry, if your product is soluble an organic solvent you could then rinse it out of the salt mess.
