gasoline vs water size
« on: December 23, 2017, 11:12:30 PM »
Is a water molecule smaller than a gasoline (I'll call it molecule) such that a tank might leak water but not leak gasoline?
Thanks,
mrmac

The water is H2O. Gasoline is a mixture of hydrocarbons. With C5H12 to C8H18 and others. These are larger. But a tank should not leak both of them. Maybe you have a special membrane.

Gasoline floats on water, so no further separation is needed. A leak at the bottom will let only water through.

And when all the water is gone the gasoline also will leak or not?
