Stuck on this question:

The boiling point of propane is -44.5C and that of propene is -47.8C.  Is this consistent with the nature of the intermolecular forces present in both these hydrocarbons?  Explain.

There are 4 categories of intermolecular forces.

Ion-induced dipole forces
Ion-dipole forces
Hydrogen bonding
van der Waals forces

propane/propene does not have ions.
propane/propene does not have hydrogen bond donor acceptor, since there is no nitrogen/oxygen/fluorine atom.

Van der Waals forces is the topic you should look into.
