Hi,
I was performing a Biginelli synthesis a couple days ago, and noticed that white crystals formed when I washed out a flask of benzaldehyde with an EtOH/H2O mixture. I was wondering what this could be, as I didn't expect a reaction to occur (apart from formation of an acetal or hemiacetal, but I would only have expected this reaction to occur under acid/base catalysis, which was absent).
Thanks
