Titration and rinsing

When you do titration, say you are putting the known standard solution in the conical flask and the unknown solution in the burette, can you still use distilled water to rinse the conical flask? Wouldn't it affect the concentration of it by diluting the solution?

Rethink the procedure - what is it that you really determine, the concentration, or amount of the substance present in the aliquot?

We are trying to find the concentration of the unknown solution but if you rinse with water wouldn't it dilute the known concentration so more volume of unknown solution from the burette is required to neutralise? which will eventually impact on the concentration of the unknown solution

Again, please rethink the titration procedure.

Assume you are titrating 10 mL of 0.1 M NaOH with 0.1 M HCl. What would be the titrant volume?

Now assume you take a 10 mL of 0.1 M NaOH and add 10 mL of water, then titrate it with the same 0.1 M HCl. What would be the volume of the titrant in this case?

Why would you put the standard solution in the Erlenmeyer flask?  The flask should contain the substance of unknown concentration.

Perfectly valid approach during the titrant standardization.
