Reaction between two hydrates
« on: May 13, 2018, 07:06:19 PM »
Two hydrates were reacted.
We took Na2CO3°H20 added water then added the CaCl2°2H20 if that changes anything

CaCl2°2H20 + Na2CO3°H20 -> ??

What would they form?
Is it just a double displacement?

I'm doing a limiting reagent question but I'm stuck on the reaction

Here's a good chance for you to get some practice.

Use the amounts in your limiting reactant problem.  Tell us how much water is really bound to a certain amount of solid.  How many mls, total water, for grams of solid hydrate.

You'll see.  The amount is trivial.  We don't consider water of hydration, for a double replace reaction, conducted in water solution.
Hey, I'm not judging.  I just like to shoot straight.  I'm a man of science.
