Is [Ni(CN)

(pentacyanonickelate(II)) paramagnetic or diamagnetic?
I thought that since CN is a strong ligand, pairing of electron takes place and it will be diamagnetic. But the answer given is paramagnetic.
Also how do we decide whether the geometry is squarepyramidal or trigonalbipyramidal?
For example, I had read that
[Fe(CO)
5
] is trigonalbipyramidal while [Ni(CN)
5
]
3-
is squarepyramidal. How do we identify this?
