How to produce 0.6 M FeCl3 soultion in Ethylene Glycol
« on: July 23, 2018, 01:59:17 AM »
Hello everyone
I am trying to produce a 0.6M solution of FeCl3 but in ethylene glycol. The solute is FeCl3 and the solvent is ethylene glycol. Is such a solution possible ? I don't know how to prepare it

The question is, is iron chloride solouble in ethylen glycol. If yes then calculate the mass of 0,6 M and choose a reasonable volumen.

Yes it is soluble. My question is, does ethylene glycol as solvent changes anything ??
Will the mass of FeCl3 required to prepare 0.6 M solution remain same when the solvent is water ?
Do I need to consider the molecular mass fo ethylene glycol anywhere ??

The make up is the same like in water. o,6 mol in 1l Ethylenglycol

or rather, 0.6 mol made up to 1 litre in ethylene glycol (note I don't know if it's that soluble).

So you mean I have to make the solution the same way I would do when the solvent is water. Ethylene glycol does not change anything ?

If it is solouble in glycol then give it a try, but choose how sjb said.
