Solubility of trifluoro acetamide?
« on: July 25, 2018, 10:13:07 PM »
Does anybody know the watersolubility of trifluoroacetamide? I have looked in Handbook and Merckś index but I cant find anything. Acetamide is very soluble and my guess is also the trifluoro derivative should be watersoluble.

According to the Merck Company, the water solubility of 2,2,2-trifluorocetamide is 460 g/l at 23 oC, as figuring in the corresponding Material Safety Data Sheet (MSDS).

Thank you pgk, then it should be OK to wash it out from toluene with water.

Yes but you have to wash toluene with water several times because its logP ≈ 0.15, which means that trifluoroacetamide is both soluble in water and in organic solvents, as having a logP value around 0.
