Hyperconjugation
« on: August 31, 2018, 12:40:28 PM »
Hi!

Can a negative charge be stabilised by hyperconjugation? Or is it only carbonation that can be stabilised?

I was about to answer, and then I was reminded about how complicated it is. There are some good discussions (including references) here:

Hyperconjugation is the dispersal of electron density which can stabilize negative as well as positive charge
