Going towards production after working in an engineering firm
« on: November 18, 2018, 12:53:24 PM »
Hi guys, I recently started (6 months ago) working as a process safety engineer (first job) for jacobs engineering. I find it a good learning experience as I am learning area classification, Hazops, interpretation of P&IDs etc.

I would like to move to a manufacturing firm (chemical, petroleum etc.) after a couple of years (2 to 3 years) because it does sound interesting. At the moment, I have site visits sometimes but I am not really familiar with the practical work. I was just wondering if it is possible (and do-able) to move to a manufacturing firm after starting in an engineering firm. I have heard that it is even a good move to go to manufacturing firm after learning engineering principles in an engineering firm. I would like some views of people with experience.

Thanks in advance
