Si + 2 H2 + 3 SiCl4 → 4 SiHCl3
2 SiHCl3 → SiH2Cl2 + SiCl4
2 SiH2Cl2 → SiHCl3 + SiH3Cl
2 SiH3Cl → SiH4 + SiH2Cl2

This is one of those strange reactions where one thing reacts with itself. Since there are four actual reaction but only one product comes out, do these reactions occur in steps as the more reactive species reacts then the next reactive species reacts etc. I'm thinking in terms of how all chemistry starts at the highest energy level then proceeds to the lowest or most stable molecule. Or am I totally wrong and there is no order and the mechanism is more complex?
