Trouton's rule

(1/1)

Legolasas5:
Hello there,
I have a question regarding Trouton's rule. I don't fully understand why when different liquids evaporate, the volume change is similar for all of them?

Thank you for your answers.  ;)

wildfyr:
This rule applies to the entropy of evaporation. Not sure what that has to do with volume?

If you are referring to the volume in the gas phase, well the ideal gas law is what you are looking for.

Alt+Tab:
Well, if it is due to volume variation and entropy (trouton rule), I recommend you look at the clayperon equation.
