Net ionic reactions.

How do you go about finding the net ionic reaction for NaI + FeCl3? I've looked online and found that the reaction results in I2+FeCl2+NaCl. But, I don't understand how you get this. Thanks for any help.

Well, start with a balanced chemical equation, reactants and products.  Do you know which ones ionize?  The net ionic equation will have the ions canceled out from both sides.
Hey, I'm not judging.  I just like to shoot straight.  I'm a man of science.

My bet is that problem lies not in the net ionic, but in finding products.

ianb: no simple and obvious way of finding that out, it cames with experience.
