Hello friends,
Could somebody please explain me how do battery car work?I mean ,I've been studying from this book and there's no such explanation.The only thing that is shown and said is:

A battery is a collection of piles(about six of them)

And the reaction:

Negative pole: Pb + SO4^-2 ---> PbSO4 + 2H2O + 2e^-
Positive pole: PbO2 + SO4^-2 + 4H^ + 2e^-  --->  PbSO4 + 2H2O
                  ---------------------------------------------------
Global reaction:     Pb + PbO2 + 2H2SO4  --->  2PbSO4 + 2H2O

So,this equation above means nothing since i don't know what's going on in the piles.
Is happening the same as in Danniel's pile?I mean,each pile has a half cells conteining metals with its respective salts.I'm too confusing  ???

There is no battery scheme? Drawing? Nothing? Throw the book away.

Each pile contains two poles (negative and positive) immersed in sulfuric acid.

There's a poor battery scheme that doesn't help.The book is not bad.The only problem is qith this chapter(eletrochemistry) and in especific with this battery thing.It explains the sulfuric acid but i'd like too understand a bit more 'coz this clearly is not enough.I'd like to know how the piles work with each other,the kind of metals,explained just like in the Danniel's is.

The only metal present is lead.

Borek,I've just understood it.The problem was that i was trying to see two different metals to keep the electron flux but the Pb and PbSO4 already make an electron flux possible.I was so lost that couldn't see it.Just because you answered lead i finnally got it.Thank you.

But why only dilute sulfutic acid(about 27 to 37%)?

Acid concentration changes - take a look at the reaction equations. Acid is produced during charging and consumed when the battery is working.
