Title: finding a formula
Post by: LittleLee88 on February 25, 2006, 01:39:45 PM
ok..I have to find a formula and name it from what this question tells me..I found the answer but I don't know if I did it right so I'm just checking..You have a molar mass of 92.2g/mol. 91.1% of it is carbon and 8.9% of it is hydrogen. Write the formula and name it. I got C6H8..but I don't know how to name it...Is that right? and if it is could you help me name it? Thanks!

hmmm.... what would a molecule of C6H8 look like?

Show how you got that formula.

Formula looks OK, but is not enough to name the compound.

so you can't name it then?

is not enough [information] to name the compound.

Was I too laconic? ;)
