Hi all I'm looking for any specific literature on synthesis of tertiary ammonium cation Ionic liquids, my target will be [NR4]+ with at least one R = Butyl side chain. with PF6- anion.

Going the route of NR3 + X-R -----> [NR4+] + X- --------> NR4+ PF6-

So quaternisation using halo alkane then metathesis / anion exchange of halide anion with PF6 (KPF6).

Anyone know of a paper (hopefully specifically with this synthesis) other wise something of a similar nature.
