Hi,
I am getting back into chemistry and need help with these problems. I thank anyone in advance who is willing to help me out.
PROBLEM #1
A 15.2 g solid object is dropped into a graduated cylinder containing 35.0 mL of water. The water level rises to th 45.7 mL mark.
part 1. What is the density of the solid? (please show calculations)
part. 2 What is the specific gravity of the solid?
PROBLEM #2
A 10.0 mL sample of alcohol is placed into a flask that weighs 90.300 g. The flask is then reweighed and found to weigh 98.199 g.
part 1. Calculate the density of the sample of alcohol. (please show calculations)
part 2. What is the specific gravity of the sample of alcohol?

about part 1 (both problems): m=V.density.

hmm... according to the construction of the problem, it "may" mean the object sinks... because A 15.2 g solid object is dropped into a graduated cylinder containing 35.0 mL of water. The water level rises to th 45.7 mL mark.
But it isn't explicitly stated for sure in the statement of the question... Moreover I think no particular answer can be there if we think the object floats.
