Title: Equilibrium Constant Problem Involving Partial Pressures?
Post by: tiny101 on May 22, 2008, 01:41:33 AM
Hi there, how would you approach this problem?

If P4 (g) <-> 2P2 (g) has Kp = 1.0E4 Pa at 1325K, and the total pressure is 1.0E5 Pa, find the partial pressures of both species.

I'm not sure if this problem requires the initial concentrations of the species, but without it, I'm not sure of how to approach this problem. Any suggestions would be much appreciated.

Thanks in advance.

You have two equations - you know sum of partial pressures and you know Kp. Write both.
