Can someone please help me with writing this equation?

In this lab, we made a suspension of hydrous silicon hydroxide (SiO2 - n H2O) in about 10 ml of water. We tested it with litmus paper then poured half into another test tube. We put HCl in one half and NaOH to the other half. We then had to write the equations for the reactions occurring. How do you write the equation for something that you don't even know the coefficient for? I'm so confused when it is involving hydrous silicon hydroxide. I know it is acidic but I don't know where to start.

Oh and how is this acidic if it doesn't have an hydrogen atom in it to donate.
