RADAR has two entrances, one at each end
of the unit, allowing mice to run through
its passageway. When the mouse breaks
two consecutive infrared beams, it trips
a circuit that immediately closes both
entrances. Once the mouse is trapped
inside the tightly sealed chamber, the
carbon dioxide gas is released. The gas acts
extremely rapidly and is widely recognised
as a humane method of control.
How much do those darn thingies cost anyways. A CO2 canister & IR diodes & sensors, a solenoid to drop two trapdoors, a gastight enclosure, a battery, a blinking LED & a chip to trigger it all. Wow. Has to be $50 at least eh?

A hungry cat? Do they just kill them or eat em too? I've never seen them eat one.

Oh yeah, they will eat them as well if they're hungry - my mum's cat does from time to time.

My cat eats them. Sometimes she brings them in front of the house and after a while, she eats them.
I once found the bottom part of the mouse (torso, head and arms were gone).
Sometimes, I find just a leg.
Once, she caught a bird. She tries to remove the feathers and eat it.

This idea seems pretty good...I wonder if they'll come up with a bigger device to control rat populations? If it eliminates the need to spread poison all over the place and is humane, then why not?
