Please help.
I am busy analysing result for a bomb calorimetry practical I did using the cal2k-eco bomb calorimeter. The value it gace me for a 0.5g diesel sample was a calorific value of 46mJ/kg. I need to calculate the heat capacity and specific heat capacity of the diesel. I thought that if I used the formula q=C*deltaT, where q is the calorific value given by the calorimeter and the change in temperature is take from the beginning of the firing phase to after the temperature has risen and stabilised, then i could calculate C. But the C value I have calculated for disel is then in the thousands of kJ/kg when it should be just short of 2 kJ/kg.
I have looked everywhere for help and cant find any:(. any advice or enlightenment will be much appreciated.
