Two questions regarding ionic equations
« on: June 12, 2013, 10:39:33 AM »
Consider the following unbalanced net ionic redox equation:

VO2(+) + SeO3(-2) --> VO(+) + SeO4(-2)

1) Write the net oxidation half-reaction in an acidic solution.
2) Write the net reduction half-reaction in an acidic solution.
3) Write the overall balanced redox reaction.
4) What is the total number of electrons transferred?

Write the net ionic equation for the following single replacement reactions

a) Ca (s) + Na2SO4 (aq)

b) Mg (s) + Al2(SO4)3 (aq)

What is unknown? What will be oxidized and what will be reduced. Use water and H+ to balance the equations.
