Title: IUPAC name for bromo-alkene compound
Post by: google1 on October 17, 2010, 11:34:55 PM
The molecule 'in question' is in the attached PDF file.  So far I came up with 3-bromo-4-methyl-hex-3-ene but the internet quiz I am taking says it is wrong.

Any suggestions?

Okay, I am not sure if the attachment for the molecule worked.. (CH3-CH2-C=C-CH2-CH3)-parent chain with a methyl group coming of the third carbon (going left to right) and a bromo group coming of the fourth carbon (going left to right).

Apologize for the inability to post pictures.  I will try to figure that out as soon as possible but does anyone have any idea what the IUPAC name might be for this?
