Aflatoxin B1, inactivation
« on: July 15, 2011, 11:05:23 AM »
Hey,

I need to know how to inactivate Aflatoxin B1 and the underlying molec. mechanism for safe and clean handling of the toxin. I will use Aflatoxin B1 to generate a genome-wide mutagenesis profil in C.elegans. This webpage:

suggest concentrated ammonia and sodium bisulfite for inactivation. How does that work on a molecular level? Any Ideas for other substances to inactivate it? Any help with handling and safety = waste disposal on this toxins are more than welcome!

Cheers,
Joerg

Look in Google under aflatoxins waste disposal.
They suggest bleach.
Development Chemists do it on Scale, Research Chemists just do it!
