Post by: orgostudent on April 22, 2008, 01:05:44 PM
the answer for this reaction--

(CH3)2C=O + 2CH3CH2CH2OH and catalytic H+

I think is this--

(CH3)2-C-(OCH2CH2CH3)2

am I right?  and could someone help me name this thing?

You are right. It is acetone di-propyl ketal or 2,2 dipropoxypropane. A molecule of H2O is also formed.
