Oxygen and Hemoglobin

In a Oxygen-hemoglobin dissociation curve is the sign for enthalpy positive for the reaction where oxygen binds to hemoglobin.

I am thinking is becuase oxygen binds better.  Not sure though.

why would it be endothermic??
