Title: Stoichimetry
Post by: Melanie Cooke on May 13, 2015, 04:48:22 PM
A puzzle I'm working on

CaH2 + 2H2O = 2H2 + Ca(OH)2

What volume of hydrogen is produced from 250.25 g of calcium hydrite?

Ive started by finding molar masses:
42 + 36 = 4 + 74

Dont know what to do next.

Hydride, not hydrite.

How many moles of hydride do you have? How many moles of hydrogen produced per each mole of hydride?

@Melanie Cooke
By the way your formula could have been written using the editing functions when posting

CaH2 + 2H2O  :rarrow: 2H2 + Ca(OH)2

This is mentioned in the forum rules  (3.6.)
