extraction of iron from red mud

hii i wanted the exact procedure to extract iron from red mud in liquid form... i have heard about a process calld leaching using hcl is tat the way to do it ??

Depending on what form the iron is. If it is one of it's oxides or hydroxides, you end up with FeCl2 or FeCl3 which dissolve in water. You would of course get other elements as well : Na, K, Ca, Mg and many others. Then add some NaOH to get Fe(OH)3 precipitate. Filter it out. Heat at high temp with charcoal to get some impure iron.

hello sir
I m gone use the iron (liquid form) extracted from red mud and laterite soil as a source of iron from fenton's oxidation process and need the procedure to extract iron, so can u give me the detailed procedure to do so
