Title: Solve the problems...
Post by: yeahyeayeah on September 07, 2015, 04:22:24 PM
So....I need these solved with detailed explanation if possible please. I'd greatly appreciate it.  :)

Here they are.

The mixture of propane and btutene with mass of 40 gr append catalytically the hydrogen. Mass fraction of butene in the mixture is 56%. Determine the volume of hydrogen (in liters, normal conditions) which is appended to the mixture of hydrocarbons.

...and this one :). Dichloroethane is used as a cleaning solvent of organic substances in textiles. Calculate what mass of chlorine and ethane that are required to obtain 3.96 kilograms of 1.2-dichloroethane.

Thanks a lot for your time in advance  ;D

What have you tried?

For the first one, for instance, how do propane and butene react with hydrogen?

And for the second question, you're supposed to write a synthesis equation from ethane to dichloroethane.

Bizarre question, though, since the solvent is produced from ethylene.
