and not

3
?
The latter is well-known borane; the former is a complex whose name should be monoberyllium(VII) trihydride.

Does BH3 exist as a dimer?
I think the B-H-B bridge bond not only stabilise the molecule, but also help make up the electron deficient nature of the Boron atom.
