I have a probleme in a protocole of vilsmeier haack formylation.
I mix DMF(6ml) with POCl3(0.0150mol) at 0° for 2min.
Then it tells me to put the organic compound(0.0047mol) in DMF(5ml) in the solution and stirring for an hour.
1)is there 6+5ml of DMF or is it organic in the 5ml of DMF left by the first reaction ?
2)In vilsmeier haack you need H2O to make the organic compound to get the adlehyde, and in this protocole no water mentioned, why ?
3) when done it says "The reaction mixture was left to cool overnight, and was then partitioned between EtOAc and saturated aqueous NaHCO3"
what partitioning means ? and what EtOAc and NaHCO3 has to do in the protocole, if it's for organic/aqueous separation well what does it means ? how it works ?
Help me please XD

1)You should read the mechanism of this reaction. You have 2 solutions one is the POCl3 in DMF the other is the compound ,which you want to formylite.dissolved in DMF
2) Check https://www.organic-chemistry.org/namedreactions/vilsmeier-reaction.shtm
3) Partition means to seperate in a shake funnel, You should know what bicarbonate and what the ethylacatate does
